Are you open to the public?
As a rescue center, we only allow access to people with a tour or guesthouse reservation.
Where are you?
We are located in San Josecito of San Isidro of Heredia. Just 15 min. from the town of Heredia, 35 min. to the airport and 15 min. to San Jose the capital.
What is the weather like?
We are at 4500 feet close to the rainforest, so bring a sweater for nights, a rain jacket and a flashlight. Layered clothing is best.
Can I hold a sloth?
As a rescue center our first concern is for the animals. Being handled by people they don’t recognize, primarily through smell, is very stressful for sloths. So while we can’t let you hold a sloth your experience will be up close and personal.
What if my flight leaves early in the morning?
We can arrange a taxi for early departures and will deliver a continental breakfast to your guesthouse the night before. Taxi cost to the airport is approximately $30. Van is approximately $35.
How long does it take to get to the airport?
About 35 minutes. Leave extra time if you have to check-in a rental car or will be going during rush hour.
How far is….?
Arenal volcano (La Fortuna) is a 4 hour drive from here, very easy and beautiful drive.
The Caribbean coast, Limon, Puerto Viejo is around 3-4 hour drive as well.
Pacific beaches, Jaco is 2 hours, Manuel Antonio about 3.5 hours
Monteverde is about 3-4 hours from here, depending on the state of the road
La Paz Waterfall Gardens, Peace Lodge is about 1 hr. 15 min. We can also arrange for a shuttle service.
Sarapiqui area, Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui is just 1 hour 15 min. from here. Some of the best birding in Costa Rica.
Savegre Valley is a 2 hour drive
Osa peninsula is around 7 hours
Beaches of the pacific Guanacaste like Samara is 6 hour drive
Aerial Tram and hiking in the Braulio Carrillo National Park are 35 min. away
Coffee tours at Finca Rosa Blanca or at Cafe Britt are 20 min. away
Sibu chocolate tasting is just 5 min.
